Integrative taxonomy of Xiphinema histriae and Xiphinema lapidosum from Spain

; R(f) = 1.0000). Posterior probabilities greater than 0.70 are given for appropriate clades. Newly obtained sequences in this study are shown in bold. Scale bar = expected changes per site. Discussion This study aimed to provide and to characterize morphometrically and molecularly two Xiphinema species belonging to Xiphinema non-americanum Group 5 from Spain, and to carry out an updated phylogenetic study of both species within the X. non-americanum group species. To date, this is the first

First record of Aphelenchoides stammeri (Nematoda: Aphelenchoididae) from Turkey

of Pinus nigra Arnold tree taken from the forest site of Isparta Regional Forestry Directorate, the southwest part of Turkey. In this study, Aphelenchoides stammeri was identified as a first record for Turkey by using morphological characteristics and molecular techniques and compared with the original descriptions. Materials and methods Nematode collection and isolation In 2011, a total of five trap trees (mean 20 m in length and 30 cm in diam.) of each pine species (Pinus brutia Ten. in İzmir

Characterization of a population of Pelodera strongyloides (Nematoda: Rhabditidae) associated with the beetle Lucanus ibericus (Coleoptera: Lucanidae) from Georgia

including sequences from P. strongyloides dermatitica (i.e. one of the 28S rRNA gene, one of the 18S rRNA gene, and two of the PolII gene) had been published to describe the phylogenetic relationships among rhabditids (Fitch et al., 1995; Kiontke et al., 2007). Our study reports the first record of P. strongyloides in Georgia and on a dead L. ibericus beetle, providing new examples of the extent to which P. strongyloides is associated with decaying materials, particularly beetle cadavers. Furthermore

Description and Distribution of Three Criconematid Nematodes from Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China

near full-length 18S ribosomal DNA sequence provided weak support for a grouping of Criconemoides parvus from China and C. annulatus from western North America. The phylogenetic position of D. hengsungica from China and an unknown species of Discocriconemella from Thailand relative to D. limitanea suggests that the genus Discocriconemella is not monophyletic. The study provides the first record of D. hengsungica in China and confirms the presence of C. parvus previously reported from China

Isolation, identification, and pathogenicity of Steinernema carpocapsae and its bacterial symbiont in Cauca-Colombia

of in vitro susceptibility of both pests to S. carpocaosae now need to be corroborated by field studies that can determine the potential of these EPNs for controlling these two pests of economic interest to Hass avocado cultivation (P. americana) in Colombia. Conclusions These results are the first record of S. carpocapase and its bacterial symbiont in Cauca, Colombia. They establish its potential for controlling two pests that affect Hass avocado crops (adults of P. cinereus and E. cucumeris
