This paper presents material and gas sensing properties of Pt/SnO2 nanowires/SiC metal oxide semiconductor devices towards hydrogen. The SnO2 nanowires were deposited onto the SiC substrates by vapor-liquid-solid growth mechanism. The results of research aimed at the gas sensing nanowires (NWs) engineering are presented. Structurally modulated SnO2 NWs were obtained at 900oС in the modified vapor-solid process, allowing that NW morphology could be encoded in a programmable way along its length. Fluctuation enhanced gas sensing using UV irradiated Au-nanoparticle-decorated WO3-nanowire films

WO3 nanowires (WO3-NWs) decorated with gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) were utilized in resistive gas sensor devices to detect ethanol by use of fluctuation enhanced sensing (FES).  The experimental system records both DC resistance and fluctuations of the sensing film.
