the field site could have influenced population dynamics of P. renifer.
Although blueberry is relatively shallow rooted for a woody perennial (Trehane, 2004), it is unclear if our sampling, which was limited to 30 cm depth, allowed us to adequately represent the plant-parasitic nematode populations in this study. Relatively little is known of the preference for particular soil horizons or depths of R. robustus, P. crenatus, or P. renifer under perennial crops. Boag (1982) reported that R. robustus

herbivores, the fecundity of plant-parasitic nematodes is likely to be positively influenced by the N status of their hosts (Mattson, 1980), but relationships between fertilization of woody perennial crops and the population dynamics of M. xenoplax have never been studied directly. Previous research suggests that M. xenoplax population growth is favored by moist soil conditions and therefore also likely to be influenced by irrigation practices. For example, Howland et al. (2014) reported that M. xenoplax

Using standard nucleotide BLAST, the sequences were compared to a collection of ITS sequences from Hirschmanniella spp. and imported from GenBank database (for H. oryzae accession number DQ309588, EU722286 and for H. mucronata (Das, 1960) accession number KP179331, DQ309589, EU722287). ITS sequences alignment, phylogenetic, and molecular evolutionary analyses were conducted using MEGA version 6 (Tamura et al., 2013).

With recently discovered soybean cyst nematode (SCN) viruses, biological control of the nematodes is a theoretical possibility. This study explores the question of what kinds of viruses would make useful biocontrol agents, taking into account evolutionary and population dynamics. An agent-based model, Soybean Cyst Nematode Simulation (SCNSim), was developed to simulate within-host virulence evolution in a virus-nematode-soybean ecosystem. SCNSim was used to predict nematode suppression under a

Population dynamics of stubby root nematodes
The capacity of tobacco var. Samsun NN, alfalfa var. “Vernema”, Russet Burbank potato and Castle Russet potato to sustain populations of viruliferous SRN was investigated in two independent greenhouse trials that differed by SRN inoculation pressure (Fig. 1). Overall, plant host (χ

social, economic, and environmental benefits as this contributes to production diversity, increased family income, and increased organic matter in the soil (Jackson et al., 2012).
In coffee AFS, soil nutrition is provided from organic fertilizers such as cow manure, poultry litter and plant residues when necessary. The proper incorporation of these fertilizers improves soil quality and microbial activity (Jannoura et al., 2014). These fertilizers can also change the population dynamics of some

raspberry plant vigor and yield. A 2-yr study was conducted in an established ‘Meeker’ raspberry field in northwest Washington to evaluate the effects of nine alleyway cover crops, mowed weed cover, and the industry standard of bare cultivated soil on P. penetrans population dynamics, raspberry yield, and fruit quality. The host status for P. penetrans of cover crops included in the field experiment, as well as Brassica juncea ‘Pacific Gold’ and Sinapis alba ‘Ida Gold’, was also evaluated in greenhouse
