An attempt has been made to study theoretically electrical admittance type level measurement and its cross sensitivity with ionic concentration of liquid. The analysis has been made for single and double electrodes and found there is significant cross sensitivity which varies with the ionic concentration of the liquid. This study will help further to design and develop continuous level measurement transmitter in Boiler drum.

To identify the important attributes of complex system, which is high-dimensional and contain both discrete and continuous variables, this paper proposes a sensitivity analysis method of hierarchical hybrid fuzzy - neural network. We derive the sensitivity indexes of discrete and continuous variables through the differential method. To verify the effectiveness of our method, this study employed a man-made example and a remote sensing image classification example to test the performance of our

SmCoO3 gas sensor has been developed with high sensitivity for CO2 gas by doping Ba. Nanostructured SmCoO3 and Sm1-xBaxCoO3 (x = 0, 0.1, 0.15, 0.2) were obtained by EDTAGlycol method. The operation temperature falls and sensitivity increases from 425 to 370OC when Ba concentration in SmCoO3 changes from x = 0 to x = 0.1. Ag impregnation over Sm0.9Ba0.1CoO3 sensor, on exposure to CO2 at about 360OC showed an increased sensitivity as well as the response time also decreases. The possible CO2

In this work, a comparative study aimed to investigate the effects of cladding stripping on the external refractive index sensitivity in tapered and UV long period gratings is presented. Here, wet chemical etching combined with microscopic analysis allow us to identify the experimental dependence of the surrounding refractive index (SRI) sensitivity on the cladding radius for both grating types. The experimental results reveal that although in both cases a sensitivity enhancement is achieved by

Because the sensitivity of antibody detection testing may be reduced when pooled reagent red blood cells (RBCs) are used, the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) prohibits the use of pooled reagent RBCs when performing pretransfusion antibody detection testing. This restriction imposed upon the use of pooled reagent RBCs is based, at least in part, on the belief that pooled reagent RBCs are less likely to detect clinically significant antibodies than are sets of unpooled reagent RBCs

Resistive gas sensors are very popular and reliable but suffer from low selectivity and sensitivity. Various methods have been suggested to improve both features without increasing the number of sensors in gas detection systems. Fluctuation enhanced gas sensing was proposed to improve gas detection efficiency by analyzing low-frequency resistance fluctuations, and noise parameters can be more informative than the single DC resistance and can advance gas detection systems by improving detection

This paper we discusses an effect of coating longperiod gratings (LPGs) with a thin titanium dioxide (TiO2) overlays on refractive index (RI) sensitivity of the LPG. The overlays have been obtained using atomic layer deposition (ALD) method. The method allows for deposition well-controlled in thickness, well defined in optical properties, high-RI and very conformal thin films as required for optical fiber sensors. For the investigated LPGs we obtained sensitivity of 3490 to 6471 nm per RI unit

Metal-detector performance depends heavily on the sensor head. Errors in coil placement within the head can lead to degradation in detector performance. Electromagnetic modelling of typical very-low-frequency detector heads shows the effect of coil placement errors on detector sensitivity. Provided the bucking coil ‘tracks’ the receive coil, required error corrections can remain small. A correctly-aligned head could detect a gold ring target at a range of about 12 cm.

Logistic regression (LR) models can be used to predict diagnostic measures of a screening test. A marginal model framework using generalized estimating equation (GEE) with logit/log link can be used to compare the diagnostic measures between two or more screening tests. These individual modeling approaches to each diagnostic

Poly Methyl MethAcrylate (PMMA) based plastic optical fibres offer a low cost radiation monitoring solution with a wide dose range, capable of providing real-time, online information. The sensitivity of the fibre to ionising radiation is shown to be dependant on wavelength, with the sensitivity increasing with decreasing wavelength, and so by carefully selecting the monitoring wavelength, the desired sensitivity and dose range can be achieved. The fibres exhibit high sensitivity, up to 0.6dBm

The physical properties obtained by both processes have been observed and theirs effects on the gas sensitivity have been discussed. Despite there are small variations in the physical characteristics between the samples fabricated by different patterning processes, both devices present high sensitivity and reproducibility to different ammonia concentrations from 5 ppm to 100 ppm at 300 °C.

The absolute sensitivity of the ON and OFF responses (evaluated by threshold estimation) was not significantly altered for turtle ERG, but it was decreased for frog ERG. The time characteristics of the ERG responses were unchanged in both species. Our results show important

An interdigitated microwave sensor was used to detect the adsorption of cytochrome c on hydroxyapatite thick films. Changes in the microwave spectral response were indicative of the presence of adsorbed cytochrome c. The sensitivity of the system was also evaluated using different protein loadings on the e films. The results suggest that the microwave sensor can be utilized to detect protein.

The purpose of the study (presented in this article) was to develop a measure of resilience to crisis, one that may be applied to regional data. In principle, such measure can take either positive or negative values. A positive value confirms resilience to crisis, whereas a negative one confirms the absence of resilience (sensitivity/vulnerability). The measure uses growth rates referred to the previous year under the assumption that crisis results in a slowdown in growth, or even in a decline

Abstract
The gold standard in microbiological diagnostics of bacteremia is a blood culture in automated systems. This method may take several days and has low sensitivity. New screening methods that could quickly reveal the presence of bacteria would be extremely useful. The objective of this study was to estimate the effectiveness of these methods with respect to blood cultures in the context of antibiotic therapy. Blood samples from 92 children with sepsis were analyzed. Blood cultures were

important place took open-air drawing and painting workshops, which in recent years as a result of program changes have been withdrawn from the learning process [4]. Reducing the number of hours of drawing studies resulted in fallback of artistic skills and aesthetic sensitivity. With having several years of experience in teaching of drawing and painting, the authors of the paper confirm their belief in the importance of teaching drawing by studying the forms of nature [9].

The accelerometers used for Inertial Navigation in satellite launch vehicles demand excellent performance in terms of sensitivity, noise immunity, linearity, bias and scale factor stability over time and environmental changes. Detailed and in-depth design of the microstructure by computer simulation is required to ensure structural integrity and reliability of the microstructure. The microstructure of the accelerometer consists of a proof mass suspended from the mounting frame by beam springs

. By selecting appropriate weighting functions∞H controller were designed based on mixed sensitivity approach using singular loop shaping method. The performance of ∞H controller was compared with LQG controller based on vibration reduction. From the results it is observed that the H∞ controller is the best suited for smart structural process.
