We investigate the problem of adaptive control of traffic lights using real-time traffic information collected by a wireless sensor network (WSN). Previous studies mainly focused on optimizing the intervals of green lights in a fixed sequence of traffic lights, and ignored some traffic flow’s characteristics and special traffic circumstances. In this paper, an adaptive traffic light control scheme has been proposed, in which the sequence of traffic lights can be adjusted dynamically in

fusion. The second one was control layer, composed of traffic light controller nodes in which fuzzy neural controller was nested. Traffic light controller nodes were used to accept the traffic data detected by the first layer, and fuzzy neural controller determined the signal cycle at artery, and on-line adjusted the green ratio at all directions on crossroads to accomplish traffic light control. Simulating results showed that the method is superior to the common fuzzy control, effectively reducing

This research supports the possibility of implementing in a smart city, a wireless sensor network, with sensitive nodes in movements implemented in public transport system vehicles and static sink nodes located in a vehicular intersection. The methodology contemplates the influence of mobility in obtaining the parameters of network operation, through mathematical models and probabilistic calculations of the data collected through measurement campaigns carried out in a real traffic light

We then added a social and ecological framework to address health

In the work we performed a review of studies of foreign scholars on changing the reaction time of the driver depending on various road conditions, namely the change in the response time when using the traffic light regulation. Earlier by the authors of this article have already been carried out research in the field of throughput of a site of a highway with traffic regulation, which showed that this value depends on the time of reaction of the driver. In this article the estimation of how much

. The final result of the developed algorithm is the traffic light scheme (duration of green light for certain direction). The presented control system can be used as an adaptive automatic control system for the vessel traffic control processes on navigable canals or on critical sections of other waterways.
